Miami, FL—Police arrested the hit-and-run driver whose van slammed into a car early Sunday, Jan. 2, 2010, killing three people and injuring another. According to information provided by WINK News, officials issued an alert about a van that was seen “speeding erratically” prior to the triple-fatality Miami accident.

Cedric Levon Williams, 48, told investigators he had been drinking and driving before Sunday’s deadly wreck, adding that he was speeding because he believed he was being chased by police. Williams also contended he left the scene of the van accident, hid from K-9 officers and paid someone $20 to drive him home, because his license was expired.

When authorities arrived at Williams’ home on Sunday afternoon to apprehend him, he apparently told his mother, “It happened so fast.” Williams was detained on $36,000 bond. He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Reports indicated Williams was behind the wheel of a blue van when he sped through a red light and T-boned a Honda Civic. The driver of the Civic, Robert Wissler, 25, along with two back-seat passengers, Lindsey Ellen Ennis, 20, and Kayla Elizabeth Bain, was killed in the collision.

A front-seat passenger who remained unidentified was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. The extent of the victim’s injuries was not specified.

According to reports, a security guard witnessed Williams limp away from the wrecked van after the fatal accident occurred.
