Researchers reported that one in 16 surgeons who took part in a national survey admitted to contemplating suicide. Additionally, only one in four of those surgeons went to see a psychiatrist or psychologist for help. According to Tait Shanafelt, MD, of the Rochester-based Mayo Clinic, and colleagues, “An increased risk of suicidal ideation was linked to three factors: depression, burnout, and the perception of having made a recent major medical error.” Read the full story on: http://www.medpagetoday.com/Psychiatry/Depression/24381
