Greensboro, NC—Kindermusik International, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada (HC), voluntarily recalled around 7,000 Zoom Buggy Cars and 300 Dream Pillow Stars sold in the United States, as well as 1300 Zoom Buggy Cars and 100 Dream Pillow Stars sold in Canada. The recall was announced on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, after it was discovered that Zoom Buggy Car and Dream Pillow Star educational toys pose choking hazards to young children who use them.

While no injuries have been reported in connection with the defective product recall, Kindermusik received word of 15 instances in which the wheels on the Zoom Buggy cars detached. The plastic beads on the Dream Pillow Star also have the potential to detach, though the firm has yet to receive any incident reports related to that particular item.

According to the CPSC news release, “Zoom Buggy Cars have a wooden body with red and blue plastic wheels and a red handle. The recalled units have tracking labels on both the product and packaging with a date code of 201005 and a batch ID of APO18829 on the bottom of the cars. Dream Pillow Stars have a wooden star center with red plastic handles, yellow plastic center stars and red, blue and green plastic beads. The recalled units have tracking labels on both the product and packaging with a date code of 201005 and a batch ID of APO18829 on the bottom of the product.”

The risky Zoom Buggy Car and Dream Pillow Star educational toys were sold exclusively through Kindermusik Educators as part of Kindermusik At-Home-Materials. The Zoom Buggy Cars were sold between July 2010 and October 2010, while the Dream Pillow Stars were sold between September 2010 and October 2010. The products were valued at about $33.95.

The recalled educational toys were also made available for purchase at Kindermusik classes and online at Kindermusik.com from August 2010 through October 2010. They cost about $10.

Consumers have been urged to cease use of the recalled educational children’s toys and discard them before contacting Kindermusik International to receive a replacement product.

The company can be reached by phone at (800) 628-5687 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET or online at www.kindermusik.com. Consumers may also feel free to e-mail Kindermusik at info@kindermusik.com.
